Last week, in my blog, I mentioned about overcome limitations and from my own perspective, I think it also is the most remarkable keyword for me in this course. And if you are ready to discover, here is my story about Making Media.

To be honest, I am a person that has some issues about express my self. For instance, although I figured out that writing content is an enticing thing to do, I do not feel totally comfortable and safe to write in possessive pronoun and share my own emotion or stories directly. For that reason, I never have the plan to publish a blog before. However, this assignment has put me into an inevitable situation and that requires me to break through what I call is my invisible barriers. Obviously, I knew it is my weakness at some points, which prevents me from many great opportunities to convey my idea or participate in class or team activities. By reason of this blog, I started to learn the way to display who I am or what I feel. Surprisingly, It was not scary as my imagination at all and I began to have an open mind.

Nevertheless, at the very beginning, It was not fluent at all. In the first time, I shared my opinion and strongly protected that way of thinking, there was a debate and a small argument happened between me and my teammate due to the misinterpretation between us. Suddenly, I realized that case is the result of the inappropriate way I communicate my idea - one thing that can be improved and modified when you stand on other people viewpoint and have empathy with them. Therefore, this course taught me the second lesson about team-working. Although it is important to express your self, it also is essential to deliver it in a sensitive method in order to achieve harmony and common consent between team members.

Besides, talking about Making Media, it will be a shortcoming if I do not mention its typical feature: technology and software aspect. This subject gave me a chance to approach and practice with several apps like InDesign, Photoshop, and Audacity. That makes the experience in creating a complete communication project become more practical to me. From an amateur who does not have any specific skill but a lot of confusion about technical design and editing, after studying this course, I had a fundamental foundation about this area and it motivated me to explore more about these sophisticated and functional tools.

In addition, this course also shifted my habit in time management. In this July intake, we had to study with a strained intensity and we had to rush our assignment progress. Before studying Making Media I used to wait until the last day to complete the deadlines. However, when I have to study with a tense rhythm like this, without a suitable schedule, it will be impossible for me to complete all the assignments on time. After listening to my lecture advice, I started to set my study goal and timetable and it worked effectively in reducing stress and maintain working progress.

In general, I like this course because it has expanded my ability and creativity, let me discover my potential by experiencing new things, try various roles in Creative Industry such as content writer, photographer, designer and so on. That makes me believe more about my major choice and have adequate inspiration to become a lifelong learner in the communication area. Last but not least, I just want to express my appreciation and say thank you to my lecture - Jonathan for his detailed and timely instruction that really helpful in our learning experiences especially for the first semester in university.
